If the weather is nice, there's lots of cool photography spots in the area...
Lots of places have a good view of Mt Hood. One of the most photographed spots is at Lost Lake. You can also go up to Timberline Lodge and take pics of the lodge with Mt Hood in the background.
The road to Mt St Helens (north side) has some really good view points of the crater (and its a fun road to drive as well
Washington Park (Rose Garden area) has some nice spots if you want to take a picture of the Portland skyline with Mt Hood in the background.
Lots of scenic spots in the Columbia Gorge too. Crowne Point has a good view of the Gorge. Multnomah Falls is a nice waterfall to take pics of. And there's lots of smaller waterfalls in that area too.
The Oregon Coast also has some nice spots for picture taking (if the weather is nice). Haystack Rock (near Canon Beach) is particularly nice.
Also, look in my picposter... I've got pics of the Columbia Gorge and of Crater Lake from various drives in the previous years.
And do a google search for any of the sites I've mentioned to give you an idea what they look like.
BTW, which direction are you coming from? If you're coming from the south, consider spending a day at Crater Lake (southern Oregon). Its a very beautiful area. But check the road conditions before you make plans... I think most of the roads in that area don't open up until late Apr or early May (but I could be wrong).

Nothing regular. But we meet up every once in a while....
We don't have a regularly scheduled GTG like the Seattle folks. But we have GTGs whenever someone feels like organizing one. Let us know when you're gonna be here (make a post 1-2 weeks in advance) and that'll be excuse enough for us to do a GTG. We usually get a good crowd for the GTGs... we're just too lazy and too unorganized to do a regular meet up.
