Default I need everyone's advice regarding a future car purchase...

In the next month or so I am planning on making a deposit for a car that will be arriving in 2005-2006. My numero uno pick as of now is the next BMW M3 but I would like to look into other options as well. What cars are coming out in the next year or so that are worth looking at?

Default the next M3 will be no more.. BMW will have the 2 door M4 or the 4 door M3.

and that won't be until 2007 or 08. If you want a M3.. I'd pick up an E46. It also depends on what kind of car that you want...

Default What do you want out of the car? Performance...Luxury...Utility...all the above?

Are you set on a BMW? I made a list of questions I asked myself to determine the right car for me, and it led me from the S4 to the EVO8.

Default I'm not really focusing on utility, mainly performance/luxury.

and no I'm not set on a BMW, I just love the M3! =)

Default So they are going to have produced the E46 M3 for 7 yrs by the time the new model comes out?!

2000-2007/2008 seems like a very long production run for BMW. They usually change the M's every 4 years dont they? The last M3 was produced from 1995-1999, then the E46 from 2000-2004(maybe 2005) and then the next version should be released in 2005-2006 right?
I know that BMW will be making a 4 door M3 and a 2 door M4, but are you sure about the release date of 2007-2008?! And if that is true, are they going to continue producing the E46 M3 until then or will there be an update?

Default do some research... All of the odd number cars will be sedans

and the 2 doors will be odd number cars... maybe it will change.. but the last report I read.. the M3 will be the sedan and the M4 will be the coupe.

Default put it this way.. the last 3 series had a 92-98 life time... the E36 M3 first debutted in 95 and .

ended 99.

the newer 3 series life time is 99 - present.. the new M3 was offered in 2001 and will end in 2005.

so if you look at the trend... it will be at least 2 or 3 years after the new 3 series is out before the M3/M4 will be out. So 2007 seems to be a very reasonable time before it is out.

I think that the S60R is a pretty sweet car too.
