Default Installation of Hood Pins

on my car that just arrived today,,, it has a Vorsteiner Carbon Fiber hood.. During the short time I actually got to drive it, I noticed the hood was flexing quite a bit. Hood pins should be the answer. Has anyone here had experience installing hood pins in a carbon fiber hood? Seems pretty scary...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220031986327&f romMakeTrack=true#ebayphotoho

Default Notes:....

...mark spot for hood pins carefully with respect to the raditor support bar and the tie down portion of the pin assembly (measure twice cut once addage). Place thick masking tape on both sides of hood to be drilled. Use a new sharp drill bit. Drill very slowly with minimal pressure.

I have never been a fan of the hood pins you show in your illustration. IMO, they are too visible. IN2DEEP on this forum knows where to get some less visible ones that you may want to consider prior to installing those.

Default thank you very much for that... i'd rather not have overly visable ones either.

I'll do a search for IN2DEEP's email...

Default Even if you use pins try to keep the secondary latch!

I've seen a few to many CF hoods fly off when some one forgot to
attach the hood pins. It happens when you least expect it!

After a oil change
when pulling out of the pits of a track day
when showing off how light the hood is
After a Dyno

One of my friends lost a
$1400 CF hood on his Z3, after pulling in the pits to check
a hose that was leaking. It was nasty, the hood bent over & wacked him in the head.

You get my point, it's always bad!
