Default Might be driving down the coast from Portland. Any suggestions for Portland or

coastal points?

It's been many years since I've gone that way, and I was rushing back then. Got 3 days to go from Portland to San Jose this time.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Advice?

Default At least a stop in Pacific City would be a must for me

Pelican Pub is one of my favorite places anywhere.

Default the whole Oregon Coast is great...

People tend to recommend cannon beach too often imo because it's closer to portland, but there's a lot of other great stuff that is south of there.

Yachats/Newport is definitely up there, near the Sea Lion Caves, Florence is pretty cool too.

You can get salt water taffy at any of the coastal towns, the fun stuff is off the beaten path...landmarks, lookout points, trails, etc.

I miss that truck...

Default For southern Oregon check out Samuel Boardman State Park. Also check

the different headlands in the link I provided. For central/northern Oregon I'd check out the dory launching at Pacific City, Cape Lookout, Oswald West State Park and Short Sands Beach, Manzanita, Rockaway, and Yachats. Fall coastal weather in Oregon can be the best. While it may be raining in Portland, it is not uncommon for the coast to be mild and sunny. Most of the larger State Parks at headlands have great short hikes out to the tops the headlands for wonderful views. Skip all the larger towns like Newport, Lincoln City, and Cannon Beach to avoid typical tourist joints.

If you'd like to hook up for a little Portland tour or bite to eat while you are here, let me know.

http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/~walpole/Boardman.html</a
