Price is similar. A3 seems like the obvious choice.

A3 Owner Here. The 2.0T is a very sweet engine and the A3 will be
the more nimble grocery getter. If you need it to get up to the mountains in the winter, the get the A4. For the light snow we get in the valley, FWD is not really an issue. The A3 has surprising little torque steer. The front and rear leg room between the two is almost identical.
If you mod cars at all, a chip, downpipe, and exhaust give a pretty big bang for the buck.
