Default Yep, Subaru WRX STI with a Porsche G50 Gearbox w/ Porsche big brakes....

I would have to say that it is up there as #2 of the fastest vehicles that i've been in. The #1 was a Ferrari F-40.

Heres a build of it..<ul><li><a href="http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2969205&amp;page=1">Vanagon Build Up.</a></li></ul>

Default Hehe - that's a hoot. As someone who owned 3 VW Buses (one in the late 60s) that was a fun read.

I had heard of folks souping up VW engines in them but never anything along the lines of that

My first VW bus was at the other end of the speed spectrum - a '64 microbus with a peace sign on the front, Indian tapestry covering the interior panels and a giant sticker of the Zig-Zag man on the overhead vent system. And a 1300cc engine with 39hp.

Default Totally dependent on the clubs.

Drop tops by clubs:

BMW CCA - not allowed
Audi - not allowed
BMW ACA (Portland) - OK
PCA - Seattle and PDX - OK but they prefer the top being up.
Alfa - yup.
Proformance Race School - yes.

So it makes no difference if it's a hardtop vs soft-top?

Default Nope - for the 2 clubs that do not allow them it must be a factory non removable top on the car.

I had a roll bar with a 6 point harness in my old Honda S2000 (and a removable hard top) which was workable for the BMW CCA until last year when that was banned as well.

Audi Club's National legal eagles took a similar stance and completely banned them as of last year.
