Default For now, most local orgs still permit convertibles.

The rules vary...with some requiring supplemental rollover protection in the form of a bar, while others still allowing certain cars with factory hoops, etc. Since I don't have and will never track a convertible, I am not versed in all the specifics. Heck, I just put a full-cage in my hatchback. Talk about weight penalty. ;(

Convertibles allowed by (to supplement Alan's note which I did not read until I finished this list):
* IRDC (PR and Bremerton)
* Cascade (PIR)
* Alfa of Oregon and NW Alfa (PIR, PR, and Bremerton)
* ProFormance (PR, mostly)
* Speedware (PR)
* Lotus (PIR, rule could change at some point)
* GPI (PIR)
* Lotus of Portland (PIR)
* Mustang's NW (PR, not that you'd care)
* ORPCA (PIR)
* PNW PCA (PR and Bremerton)
* BMW ACA Portland (PIR)

Not sure, but probably not banned:
* Rose City Corvettes
* Team Continental
* Shelby Club

Banned:
* BMW CCA PS (PR and Bremerton)
* BMW CCA IE (Spokane, not comipletely sure, but likely)
* Audi Club (PIR, Bremerton and occassionally PR)

MOST orgs still allow convertibles, but the specifics vary; with more groups adding supplemental rollover requirements to their rules. More restrictions and more bannings are probably inevitable.

Default Thanks Kim...I was hoping it would be a different story for hardtop convertibles.

While I don't do a lot of track days(not as many as I'd like)....I'm looking forward to going your route and having a dedicated track car sometime in the future.

Default ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes, that's why i sold the S2000

it was one if not the best car for the track and taught me so much, but always dealing with one question or another about that darned C pillar is one thing I won't miss...

that and in the event of a roll over, me = not going to fair well, roll bar or not..

Default Cage done and progress pics

Car is mostly done now. It's a compromise, but it's always going to be a drive-to-the-track car, so full guttage is just out of the question. Camera is having some problems; that's what I get for handing it over to a 13 year old.

http://home.comcast.net/~mysvtftoy/pics.htm</a

Default Nice work - but how can you ever hope to go fast

without a mAD W1Ng ?!?!?!

What were you thinking with that wussy little spoiler instead of installing the Real Thing(TM)?

Default Thinking: Not RWD or AWD.

Anyway. What I've got there is mostly cosmetic. Basically does the same thing as the stock spoiler. Breaks up some of that nasty hatch lift. But YOUR car could benefit from one of the 3-D APR wings and some big Hoosier meats.

Now my little splitter: that is the real deal my friend. It is definitely keeping my nose planted.
