Hey guys,

Here are the details for the drive this Saturday, 5/22.
(You'll want to print this out to bring with you.)

Date & Time
-----------
Saturday, May 22nd
Meet at 9:00am
Leave no later than 9:30am

Meeting Location
----------------
Twin Oaks Bar & Grill
9785 SW River Rd, Hillsboro OR
(intersection of River Road and Farmington Road)

ry=&searchtab=address&searchtype=address&a mp;address=9785+SW+River+Rd&city=H
illsboro&state=OR&zipcode=&search=++Se arch++

Quick Directions (for details, use Mapquest)
--------------------------------------------
From Tigard, take Scholls Ferry Rd west. Go past all the new
developments, and when Scholls takes a sharp turn South, continue
straight (this is River Road now). Go until the 4 way stop sign
at Farmington. Twin Oaks is on the left just before the 4 way stop.

From Hwy-217 south, take the Canyon exit. Go through the first light
and turn right at the second light (Beaverton Hillsdale). This road
eventually becomes Farmington Rd. Go about 8 miles (you'll enter farm
country) to the 4 way stop at River Road. Turn left and Twin Oaks is
on your right.

From Hwy-26 west, take the Cornelius Pass Rd exit. Loop around to the
right and head south, over the freeway. Go about 4 miles till Cornelius
Pass comes to a 'T' at TV Hwy. Take a right on TV Hwy. At the 3rd
light, turn left (Witchazel Rd). Witchazel comes to a T at River Rd.
Turn left on River Rd. Go a couple miles to the 4 way stop. Just past
the stop is Twin Oaks on your right.

What to Bring
-------------
Full tank of gas
Talkabouts (set to Ch4-4)
Snacks and drinks for the long drive
Tip for the tour guide (ok, not really)
Check your car out beforehand for safety (tire pressure, etc)
A fun and safe attitude

Weather
-------
There is a slight chance of rain in the forecast. If its raining or the
ground is really wet, I'm assuming a lot of people may back out. I'm
still willing to do the drive, but I'll be going considerably slower.
I'll be at the meeting spot at 9am, so come on out rain or shine. If no
one shows up, we can reschedule for June sometime. But pray for sun.
(Weathermen are always wrong, so there's nothing to worry about.)

Route
=====
1. Start out at corner of Farmington and River Road
2. Head West on Farmington
3. Left on Hwy 219
4. Immediate Right on Bald Peak Rd
5. At the fork, veer right to stay on Bald Peak Rd
6. At the top of the hill, follow the road (sharp right)
7. Right on Laurelwood Dr (stop sign, right turn permitted without
stopping)
(Yeeehaaw! A fun, twisty road heading downhill.)

8. Left on Springhill Rd
9. Right on Laughlin Rd (keep an eye out, it comes up unexpectedly)
10. Left on Woodland Loop Rd (blind, sharp left after a corner)
(More yeeehaw! Another fun road with some good switchbacks)

11. Right on Hwy 240, and cruise into Yamhill
12. Go straight through Yamhill, and take Moores Valley Rd. out of town
13. Veer Left on Westside Rd
14. Right on Meadowlake Rd (at the stop sign)

(It takes about 40 minutes to do this first section)

15. Continue on Meadowake Rd for about 40 miles until you get to Beaver
(intersection of Hwy 101). This is a fun, twisty road through the Coast
Range and along the Nestucca River.
(This will take about 45-60 minutes)

At this point, we've got several choices.

Choice #1 - Quickest way back - Head North on Hwy 101 to Tillamook (15
minutes), and then take Hwy 6 back into town. Hwy 6 isn't too exciting
of a drive, and there'll be traffic, but it's the quickest way back to
Portland.

Choice #2 - Head South on Hwy 101 to Pacific City / Cape Kiwanda (15-20
minutes) and have lunch on the beach at the Pelican Pub. Then either
back-track on the same route, or head up to Tillamook and then Hwy 6
back to Portland.

Choice #3 - Long route, more fun driving - Head North on Hwy 101 and
grab lunch in Tillamook or Garibaldi. Then take Miami River Rd to Hwy
53 (yeehaw!) to Hwy 26. And then take Hwy 26 to Timber Rd (more
yeehaw!) to Hwy 6 and then back to Portland.

We can figure out the 3 choices the day of the drive, and we may split
up if some want to do the long route and others don't.

P.S. A friend invited the local NSX group as well, so we may have a
few other cars to play with.
