Default And which windshield detector would you recommend for where I am?

So which jammer are you using?

Would any of the common jammers out there be able to jam it? (Lidatek, ZR3 or RX75 Plus) Which one is best?

Default WOW! Cool video. The link to it didn't work, but I found it.

You know your stuff (but I guess you know that...) =)

So what is your opinion about this test that was done where they claim the STi kicks V1's ***? What's so flawed about their testing?

ARTICLE FROM RADARTEST.COM

Until you came along in this discussion, I had ruled out the V1 as I keep reading how these newer RD's are better than it, and it's stuck in the old ages...

Default Thanks..there is no other RD that I would ever put in my car ever again.

I know the V1 can be noisy but with the proper adjustments it can be very quiet but its the best on the market for a active driver who does not want the gimmicks of a Cobra RD. The Top 4 radar/laser detectors are a great choice but I have owned them all but the V1 and my laser jammer is my guardian that has jammed over 25 laser traps with a single ticket.

Default That test is a complete joke.

Anyone who knows anything about testing radar/laser detectors knows not to put 2 or more RD's next to each other while they are all on because they will detect freq. leakage and cause inaccurate raadings. Craig Peterson used to work for Beltronics and has never picked the V1 over any Bel RD and is totally paid off and his testing is totally flawed. If you look at the "Standard Features" List Craig Peterson put the V1 at the bottom of the list. Matter of fact the V1 has all those features and if the tester knew anything about testing and anything about the V1 he would have known all those are "Standard Features" on the V1.

Default So it's just marketing hooplah from the other 2 competitors about the V1 being old technology?

The reviews you read seem to say STi and 9500i are the greatest new inventions! But then again, what do Popular Mechanics editors understand about detectors - I saw their award for the 9500i? They get gadgets like the GPS functionality of course... Car & Driver gave it a really good review too though?

And care to share your jammer secret? Is it one of the commercially available you've picked? I thougth the top ones were either Lidatek, the Escorts or the BEL one (but the latter 2 you already said were outdated...)

PS I assume the jamming of ZR3 and SRX are the same?

Default These are my testing findings that I conducted several times and true life experiences.

Those Magazines alse received major kick backs for printing those "lack luster" tests.

Watch this and tell me what you think?

Well again I'm not here to sell anything just to add my experiences and alot of testing results. The lidetek brand is no longer around but my favorite laser jammer of all time is the Lidetek LE-10 and its so powerful it will burn the retinas of anyone shooting it with laser if they are looking at the jammer head firing and thats the truth. I have the laser pro park and the laser mimic (the laser mimic works very well) and the laser pro park really rocks but my current Ver. 8.3 for the LPP does not detect/jam the UL 20/20 (100 pulse per sec.) lidar gun that is used in BC, Canada but the laser mimic does so it stays on my car. I just havent upgraded to the 100pps fix for the lpp since I'm fully protected.

The Escort ZR3 and Bel SR7 (Bel LP 904/905) have been discontinued and are only avail. on the most expensive models of the BEL Remote systems. Those systems (Escort/Bel) have not been updated to counter the newest lidar guns and are about 5-6 years out of date but do work well against the Pro Laser III which is used more then any other lidar gun in the US but not far behind is the UL 20/20 which kills the Escort ZR3 and Bel laser jammer systems.

PS I assume the jamming of ZR3 and SRX are the same?

Yes the LED laser jammer system is the same for those 2 jammer systems.

Default guysoflidar seems like a great site too...more reading to do!

the V1 came in first in all their radar tests, wow. The STi and 9500 didn't do bad though, you gotta admit, they were next.

So with the 9500i, if one was to get it, it sounds like you're better off not memorizing any false signal locations into it.

PS What a gump Peterson is. He went that low to sabotage their testing supposedly, and didn't bother to get rid of his own address label! LOL! OWNED!

PPS www.radarbusters.com sounds like an unbiased site to read? He said of the V1:

"Considered by many as being the top rated radar detector made today. The Valentine 1 has had no major upgrades to their detector in sometime, however as we get a number of customers requesting information about this detector, we have included it in our testing results."

Ended up picking the RX65 as the best, followed by the STi and then the 9500.

PPPS Where's your favourite mount location? Midway in the windshield, just up and over from the instrument cluster, like in the video? I've read on Escort's site you definitely don't want it really up high as the tinted area is bad for detection and too high to pick up laser well.

Default The reason Radarbusters.com picked the RX65 and STi and not the V1 is...

Because Radar Roy sells both of those products and not the V1. I remember when Craig Peterson sabotages the GOL Tests because I got calls from GOL.

Default You have to ask your self these questions....

Do you drive in mostly the city around automatic door openers? Do you want a really quiet City radar detector? Well the the Escort/Bel units are good for that because they over filter their radar detectors to make them less noisy.

Do you drive in the city and hwy alot? Do you want a Radar detector this is very sensitive to sniff out sneaking cops in hiding and you will know if they are ahead of you...to the sides of you...behind you?

I would recommend not just picking 1 radar detector but take advantage of the 30 day trail period offered by the Valentine 1, Escort and Bel and try out each of the TOP 4 and see what works best for you.
