Defer the ticket and it won't go on your record provided you don't get another one within a year.

Default Have more details on this?

I believe this is the option where you also have to take one of those one day classes on speeding.

If I defer, does my insurance co find out? That is really what I am worried most about.

Default You will pay the cost of the ticket plus a fee (mine was $100) but no classes required.

It depends on the county so check their website for details. As long as you don't get another ticket within the probation period it goes away. Less expensive than dealing with a lawyer and still keeps it off your insurance. You can defer one moving and one non-moving violation every 7 years in Washington State I believe.

Default Here's a thought.....don't go 75 in a 60 if you don't want your rates to go up.

You were speeding, you got caught....pay the ticket and be done with it. Maybe it's just me but I just don't get all this "lawyering up" for speeding tickets...when you were speeding!!! Seems like a lot of wasted time and money to me, but like I said, that's just me.

Default Terrible approach

If alternatives exist that save a lot of money over time and you disregard them because you think you are above those alternatives, you are either a fool or like wasting money.

A call and a fax to lawyer = no record of the ticket, better than just paying the ticket.

A call and a fine and probation for 1yr = no record of ticket, better than just paying the ticket.

Of course just not speeding is great to say if you haven't been ticketed for speeding. Though, I got a ticket and I'm looking for the best option in this case. From all the other responses, paying the ticket already seems like the wrong choice to make.

Default Don't remember, will check my ticket tonight

Is $300 the standard rate? Most have a "ticket gone or my services are free" policy right?

Also, if for some reason the lawyer can't get the ticket off, are you forced to pay the fine and take the ticket? (meaning no option to defer)

Default Higher... heres some info for you

I have a great lawyer up here in bellingham that can get you out of the ticket. Ive used him twice, and many of my friends have used him as well.

Benifit to using a Whatcom County Lawyer is that if they wont upcharge you for having to go to a different countys court. If you used a seattle lawyer they would charge you more for having to go all the way to WC for the hearing.

Hes reasonably price (and somewhat negotiable). Email me if you want more info. But here is his Name and number.

But it you do get another ticket you now have 2 on your record. Go the lawyer route.
