We are traveling from Boise through Bend to Lebanon and over to Newport the first day. spending the night in Newport then heading up the coast and spending two nights in Seaside. Over to Portland for two nights, then one night in the Tri-cities, WA area ,and then back to Boise.
At least that is the plan, what stops are recommended in those areas? Brewery's, restaurants? etc. I am not really familiar with the area, and on a map it seems like it is going to be a fun trip but any input is really appreciated.
thanks

If you can, spend a day in the Bend area. Sunriver (20min south of Bend) is a nice little resort... lots of golfing, biking, fishing, etc in the area. Mt Bachelor might be nice... I've never been during the summer (only in winter), but I'd imagine the view would be good and the mountain biking (and hiking too??) would be good.
On the way from Bend to Lebanon, stop by Detroit Lake.
On the way to Newport, you can stop by Mary's Peak. Its the tallest mountain in the coast range. Nice view, and I think there's a few hiking trails.
In Newport, there's the Oregon Coast Aquarium. And nearby is the brewery... good food and good beer.
On the way up the coast, there's several nice beaches along the way. In Lincoln City, there's a good sized outlet mall. There's also Chinook Winds Casino about a block from the beach. Make sure you go to Pacific City (a few miles out of the way) and definitely stop by the Pelican Pub... excellent food and beer, right on the beach. From Pacific City, continue north on the scenic highway (whatever its called... don't go back to 101 immediately)... its a nice drive with several nice parks and lookouts along the way. You'll eventually get back to 101 in Tillamook. In Tillamook, there's the Tillamook Cheese Factory.
Seaside is a big tourist town. Lots of fun things to do, but also more people and crowds.
In Portland, the possibilities are endless. Hit any of the McMenamins pubs... each one has a different theme... look on their website (Kennedy School, Edgefield, Imbrie Hall, and Rock Creek are all cool). In downtown, go to the Portland City Grill (30th floor on US Bancorp tower).... great view of town and great food (but pricey). Huber's has an excellent Spanish Coffee (they put on a show at your table when they make it). El Gaucho has an awesome Banana Foster (made at your table). Lots of bars downtown and in the Pearl District.
These are just a few suggestions. Let us know if there's anything specific you're looking for and we can make more recommendations.
And BTW, if you're looking for twisty roads, I can recommend lots of good ones along the way.

McCormick and Schmick's Harborside Restuarant in DT Portland.
Both places feature some great beers including a few hand crafted beers only available at the brewery.
But my opinion is bias....<ul><li><a href="http://www.fullsailbrewing.com/contact.cfm?CFID=2040029&CFTOKEN=50830514">htt p://www.fullsailbrewing.com/contact.cfm?CFID=2040029&CFTOKEN=50830514</a</li></ul>

Omid has many good places listed to stop. If you're an aviation fan you won't want to miss the Tillamook Naval Air Station Blimp Hangar and Air Museum. Many WWII AC, 1 WWI AC (reproduction) and several newer military AC. McMinnville has the Spruce Goose Museum which you also would not want to pass up.
If you're not an aviation fan I can't help much ;-)
Is this your first trip through Oregon? Maybe spend a day and drive farther south to Crater Lake instead of 2 days in Seaside. You can walk around Seaside in 1 day.
Cape Lookout State Park offers a very nice walk/hike or bike ride. It's just north of Pacific City and south of Tillamook.
Just a few more ideas,
Kurt

Thats just past Seaside. It is like $65ish for 2, but it sits on a pier overlooking the columbia and the food is to die for. The Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport is a must see.
