Default all that techno babble crap...

your engineer friend should've just said forged material generally has a higher coeff of thermal expansion than cast material. now was that so hard? :P

I understand very well.

Have many engines have you built buddy..

hmm hot chip...

Seems like a typical comment from someone who has a chip that does not produce the goods.

I tell you one think, I was supplied APR software 3+ by Brett.
The car kept stalling, and way way down on power over 3 compedative chips.

And about people not understanding, well i have a history of items being supplied by apr that did not fit correctly.
But if you want i can post a list of items, pricing, dates and times of everything that has gone on.

But before you accuse others of not understanding, why dont you go look at a 1.8 engine block yourself (Thats something you never even looked at) and see that there is differenced in cylinder number 4.
The pistons where made not taking cylinder 4 differences into account.

Hmmm...I opened the "foil packet" it didn't look right...but I decided to put it on and use it anyway.....

When in doubt....

I will when i get pistons back from shop, as they are removing conrods from them to check and resize.

But tops of pistons is prefect.

just be patient, just have to get stuff back.

i will also post comparisons of the old and new pistons

There is a long story to this, in a nut shell, time was critical, leads times from usa to get this corrected was long, other machine shop work was done to correct fitment.

My Point is the correct fitment items should have been sold in the first place.

Default This metallurgical engineer is now laughing.

Feel free to email questions I've worked from design to failure analysis on automotive systems in powertrain and chassis.

Default Err...

Case... closed.

None of my comments, or MSG's assetions deny differences between cylinder bores or shape of the piston, but rather the failure mode, and the time period for which your exploded hardware served before failing, which don't add up with your theory about the cause of that failure, in the least.

And yes... I have seen quite a few torn down 1.8Ts in the last three years, having owned an A4 prior to moving to the 2.7T.

You have a hardon to blame APR for your issues, because it somehow absolves you from some perceived responsibility, having run very aggressive tuning, for quite a while. (There's nothing wrong with that, by the way... but you should take that into account. Look at CMH's car.)

Goodnight.
