Hello , I have a couple of ?? Concerning Chipping.
I own a 2000 A6 2.7 with an " L" Box. I have been looking into chipping with either APR or GAIC. My orignal plan was to purchase a seperate ECU to chip so I can keep my original ecu for extended warrenty Issues.
When I contacted APR they reponded Very fast but informed me that due to a shortage of ECU's "L" boxes , Audi or whom ever they get the ECU's from charge a "Core" fee of $400 plus $550 for the ECU. So the cost of a 93 Octane chipped ecu would be approx $1545 Which is starting to get Steep.
This Morning I was seaching the AW Marketplace and some one is selling just the Chip for $200. Does That mean you can Chip and Then Un chip a ECU ?? And will an APR dealer Chip my ECU with one I bought.
Any Help or Comments would be Helpfull or if any one out there has a Stock "L" box for sale drop me and e mail

by audi, not totaly sure, and it makes more power/torque than giac/apr w/ more smoothness. ive read every post on here and audizine and i havent found one person thats unhappy with it, mine is getting installed tomm. and they are running a special through the end of sept. stage 1 chips are 499$ and that includes instalation at most locations. check out tjm motorsport.

www.tjmmotorsport.com

with the exception of Dahlback, most manufacturers are now DiPPing. Direct Port Programming... flashing you ECU chip via the diagnostic port in your car. Some sell you flash loaders, some like APR have a switchable program.
But solder in chips.. especially if you have warranty concerens are ill advised.. for the day 2 day driver.

I would also search the S4 forum to find out other upgrades that you might want to consider. TBB and DVs are a very good idea when chipping.
