To extrude hone or just port & polish it myself, that is the question...

and, yes I run 108 octane C12 all the time.
A turbo might be the next project motor, but this one has plenty of HP without one.

The "factory" rated that engine at something like 270hp. Going from memory its a 2480cc version of the 7A engine (92.8 stroke and 82.5 bore). Kolb stuff internally, I think it was tweaked a bit since Audi ran it? Maybe squidix9 can say some more. Someone said it was over 300hp now.
This is all going from memory, may not be accurate...
I was going to build a similar 7A, but its very expensive (for me at least, it came to over $7k in parts before any machine work or dyno tuning was done so I've opted for the older 10vt).
Its one helluva 20v i5.

It's 2479cc, close enough. When Audi built it, it had the formula 1 pistons @ 10.5:1 compression. It was at around 300HP then. Now it has the 14:1 formula 2 pistons, and the guess is in the low to mid 300 range. I have yet to find a good 4wd dyno around here to check it out. With the stroker and mammouth amount of flow, the bottom end is outrageous. I suppose having a final ratio of 4.86 has something to do with that too. But, on dry pavement it'll spin quite easily in first and second, and sometimes third. On any kind of lesser grip surface it'll spin as long as you want it to. Oh, and since it has no centre diff, and limited slip front/rear, that's ALL 4 wheels spinning.
