Has anyone ever tried wiring the 605 relay so that...
it's DEACTIVATED when you're in Tip mode? Thought it would be an interesting mod (beyond my capabilities) and wondered if anyone had thought of it before?

Servotronic relay ...
Relay 604 controls the speed sensitive power steering boost; at higher speeds, the relay reduces power assist. Many (including me) feel that the power steering is wildly over-assisted for anything above parking lot speeds.
A6 owners often just pull the relay. If the fairer gendered spouse complains about heavy steering during parking lot maneuvers, some have wired in a simple on-off switch to the relay.
I really like WBY's idea. Except for leaving my parking lot, I drive in TIP mode 99% of the time and would much prefer the lower level of power steering without interference from the infamous relay 605.

Any help? I THINK that all it would take would be...
a relay in place of the switch some have used for the 'switched relay' solution as well as access to the sensor/switch that is (obviously) activated when the shifter is moved to Tip mode. Anybody with any experience with this sensor/switch? Is it easy to get to? All you'd need is a simple relay that would open one side (depowering the steering relay) when the opposite side was closed (the 'TIP sensor') and closing that side (activating the steering relay) when the opposite side is opened. I'm willing to try it if someone can give me some idea of an appropriate relay to try...

Word is it's easily found in the relay panel behind...
the lower dash panel on the driver's side. All the relays are numbered for easy identification, so you should have no problem locating it. See the 'Tech' section and search for '605' for details on how to get at it. It sounds pretty straightforward.
