Default Re: WOW! your car is sooooo nice! what are the advantages to the oil catch can? What

The advantages of the catch can is very minimal.. No performance gain at all. The only reason I did this is because I don't like the old setup where the oil is routed into the intake, and it then sits at the bottom of the intercooler.

The catch can is from Canton, you can find it in race catalogs.. Yes install was done by myself, very simple install though....

Default Yep had it on then...

The catch can is just a setup so the oil does not get routed back into the intake tract. When I took out my stock intercooler there was a lot of oil at the bottom of the intercooler, so I decided on a catch can setup. The setup is rather inexpensive.. Just the catch can a couple of fittings and thats it..

The air filter pulls in, or should I say has a ram air effect from the front of the car. There is a hose that connects to the front and directs air into the box.

Sure on the next just ask I would be glad to give you a ride..

Default Not yet... and not aluminum

I'd like to make a custom box that feeds air fro the (unused/blanked off) passenger air intakes up to a decent panel filter. I have the LLtek intake, and it is OK, but the sharp end of the tube sticking into the cone filter leave me cold. I'd rather have a large panel filter and a velocity stack.

Ideas?

Curious as to why you'd use a panel. Wouldn't an enclosed cone be better? bigger filter area

Default Finally found your car in the registry...

Apparently you still have the link to your registry link to the old URL (a4.org). I looked at Mark's signature and edited the URL and voila!

Dmak's registry

Default I'd use a panel because...

It is not true that a cone will have more area.

Area is NOT the limiting factor.

I do however want ot have an intake trumpet, with a radius of trumpet >= to diameter of intake tube to get smooth entry of air into the pipe/MAF

I agree, I think that would be a better design as well Bob
