The Torque Convertor service, from what I understand is a rebuild of your torque convertor. They take it apart and replace parts of it with stronger materials. Its $498 + labor. They claim with this service you will be able to safely hold 400HP/400 lb tq. And you can go higher FYI 
They also raise your stall speed to your specs.

IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING APR, READ THIS ARTICLE BEFORE YOU MAKE A BIG! MISTAKE
I had my brother install a stage 3 APR on his 2000 A4. The car has given him nothing but problems since. From day 1,the car was running with 25 lbs. of boost. I know it seems to be a lot, but believe that it doesn't impress me. THE CAR SUCKS! AND APR TOO!!!!
I went to New Jersey and we test drove the red A4 that PES Tuning has posted on their website. The car cannot be compared to that of APR. The red car is so smooth that my brother's car seems like a stock A4, even with APR's stage 3 kit
I decided to put the PES tuning turbo kit on my 98 A4 with 45,000 miles. I only want to say one thing. I was on the NJ turnpike when I took it from PES Tuning--the car, on fifth gear, I stepped on the accelator and rocketed to 140mph with a steady 23 lbs of boost at that speed! And it seemed that we just started speeding. And, by the way, I'm running with stock catalytic convertor, stock down pipe and clutch.
I did the same thing on my brother's 2000 A4 with the APR stage 3 kit when I picked it up from Auburn, MA Adrenalin. On the DYNO test done by Adrenalin, the car put only 202 hp at the wheels; APR claims 250 hp WHERE'S THE REST?
The car took forever and a day to reach 140 mph, while my car's needle would have been broken off in the same time. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Adrenalin; it's the APR software that does not do justice to the quality and performance of the Audi A4's capabilities.
