<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/673/img_6474.jpg"></center><p>... I replaced the fuel filter on my car and out of interest, decided to cut the old filter open to look inside. The pick is what I found. The filter is very dark on the side of the filter where the fuel enters. I would say that this was blocked enough to hinder fuel flow. It was hard to see day light through the filter.

I usually use good gas from Shell or Sunoco and avoid buying gas from small dealers with low turnover of gas. Still after 136000km on the car it was time to replace the fuel filter.

I would say that the fuel filter should be changed by 100000km. So if your car is getting up there and you haven't changed the fuel filter yet, you should start to think about it.

Default I had the dealer do it...

... they charged .9 hours. I would figure on 3 hours if you were on ramps.

The fittings were all corroded and the dealer replaced the washer seals as well. I'm glad I didn't try this at home.

The part wasn't that expensive either. Over all it came to $128 CDN parts and labour.

Default It takes about 30 minutes.

if you do it the ghetto faboulous way. But that invloves cutting things, a giant pry bar and using zip ties.
