I know this has been talked about before but here's my scenario and questions, I currently have the T28 on my B6 A4. I'm running the Dual IC's. But wonder if a good FMIC might be better, to keep intake temps down, in order to advance the timing as much as possible, without detonation. That's my main concern. The 91 oct we have here in CA is so crappy, you have to keep intake temps down as much as possible.
Has anyone out there besides Greedspeed done real tests. Dual vs. FMIC. Would a FMIC be better with this turbo setup? I've asked most of the tuners who I trust and more lean toward the FMIC, but a few others say the Dual's are fine.
Aggrevatier, Jet Jockey, mike 1.8t, sameerP, anyone else have thoughts on this?

All that matters is flow. If one of your intercoolers is stock, then you have a flow problem no matter what other intercooler you are using. Adding the 2nd one will improve cooling, but not flow.

you have a big turbo so it complicates matters ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
maybe a good starting point would be to find 2 chipped b6's one with duals and one with a front mount. perhaps this would shed some light the relative differences.
besides that, you could attempt some crude thermodynamics calculations.
or go with what looks cooler

And if you look at the additional intercooler on the right side, the hose that comes out of the turbo has to make a u turn and go up to get to the 1st intercooler, that would inhibit flow? Or with a pressurized intake, does it matter with the curving of the hoses?

and I would think the front center area of the bumper would receive more airflow than the sides.

Does this say anything about heatsoak with these duals? Or is it normal to drop HP on your 2nd or 3rd run? The Stock Duals are way the heck back there, doesn't seem like air has anywhere to go after they pass through them except against the wheel liner. Just a note we did have a fan blowing on each of them.

Just like zachdaddy said, and the fact that they're both stock means they may be limited initally. The only thing that makes me believe in the Duals is that the S4 and RS4 use them. But they must be much bigger in volume.
