Default Need advice regarding Bosch 270cc injectors...........

Running GIAC custom file for larger injectors and 3 bar regulator on a K04. The spec was RC 310cc or Bosch 270cc. Installed the RC's, even with a 3 bar the car is pig rich, blackening the trunklid and bumper in a tankful of fuel. Runs strong, but way way rich, so I'm going to step down to the bosch 270cc to see how that works out. Thing is I'm having some trouble locating a bosch part # for this injector. I had heard the 01 A4 1.8T used the Bosch 270? Any help is appreciated, the archives had little to say.

Default The 2000 A4 also uses the bosch 270cc injector.

I think the other guys that also ran that 310cc chip said it was rich even on a 3 bar fpr. The problem you might find is that the 270's will run the same as the 310's since the RC's tend to run smaller then their size says. You might want to look at putting in a adjustable fpr like EVO motorsport sells, that is if it will let you go below 3 bar, maybe turning it down to 2.7-2.8 bar.

CJ, which owns a 2000 K04 runs a chip tuned for 270's on a 5 bar. He then took those out and put 310's in and used a adjustble fpr to turn it down to 3.6-3.8 bar and it runs much better up top now with more fuel then it did on the 270 setup.

Default Well..........

Word is the RC injectors are a poor design and not as linear as the bosch. I love the software because the boost is so stable and the car is far more responsive than it was with a standard K04 chip and 5 bar regulator. If the 270's dont help with the rich condition, I will try the adj. regualtor you suggested.

Thanks, and any more hints or ideas are appreciated.

Default The file is called the PC16......

and it calls for either RC 310's or Bosch 270's. Mike, i sent you an email because you seemed to have some success on the bosch 270's. I finally found a set and have them on the way now......

I'll install them saturday because I'll be at LRP on Friday when they are scheduled to arrive. Right now I see o2 voltages at WOT over 0.90, WAY rich. It's the midrange that is really rich, past about 5500 it leans out and i see a stable .87-.88v. I'll have to log fuel trim.....

Default That is exactly what Dan from Turbo5 said about the chip

that it was very rich in the mid range.

Default The 16b that I have is for race fuel....

...and the 45a is for 92 octane. I do like the chips and the 45a is phenomenal for the street. I also use the 3 bar on the 270s.

Default Just seems like very little fuel

the dbw kits run on 270cc injectors and a 5 bar and it still is not enough fuel for my setup at 18psi.

BTW what boost level does the 16b run, I know the one clark ran last before selling the car ran 22psi and tuned for 104 only.

Default It's very strange...........

I ran stock injectors and a 5 bar, and it would get lean up top in the high gears.

I go to 310's and a 3 bar, and it runs much stronger, with very stable boost (~16 psi whenever i go WOT) but, it's too rich, based on 02 voltages, not to mention my trunklid turning black.

I got bosch part # 0280150759 (reported to be a 270cc high impedance injector, but unfortunately I can't get any concrete info other than from one shop) that I will install this weekend and datalog. If i can just lean the setup slightly I think I will pick up a few HP, and no longer have to wash my trunk more often than my front wheels :-)

Why the DBW is out of fuel on 270's and 5 bar is beyond me. Maybe it runs much more boost?

Mike, where did you get the 16b and 45a files? I have the PC16 but I'm curious to try what you have, you are making MUCH more boost. Does Shine have them?

Can anyone corfirm the part number I posted on the 270's?
