new 6spd in B6 A4 1.8T Anyone know if this is going to match up with the b5 1.8 motor?

Yup...That was the general consensus of the people I know with 01E 'boxes in their converted Coupes. I'll have to look at it again, but it may be possible to use the B5 S4 short shift kits with them. I know you can use the B5 01A kits on B4 01A's, as the parts replaced are identical, but you can't use the B5 stuff on the B3 01A shifter.

except the shift rod and the selector assembly that runs over the 01E to the backup light housing. There are two different push rod set ups on the B5 S5 push rod. The push down reverse difference.
It looks to me that swaping out the RS2 shift plate and shift rods in favor of the B5 S4 shifter set up wouldn't be all that simple. For instance, the push rod and ball socket assembly I have is from a push down S4. The RS2 transmission case doesn't look like it has the appropriate cast in mounting points for the push rod to mount to it. The non push dowm push rod looks like it might stand a better chance of mounting to the RS2 case but I'd have to get one to check.
I had a SS in my 01A 5 speed and frankly I find the RS2 shifter to be more precise. If the B5 S4 SS are comparable (I know folks whine about how vague the 6 speed is, even with a SS, when compared to the 5)I'd opt to stick with the RS2 assembly.

6th on the NeuS4 is a .684 and on the RS2 it is a .730
Figuring my 225x45x17s:
The NeuS4 should be right around 2470 rpm @ 65mph and the RS2 around 2635 rpm @ 65 mph

runs a year over to Montana and SE BC on fly fishing trips and crusing is far more comfortable.
The RS2 6 speeds are far more capable of taking abuse from the occasional q launch and I liked the idea of a bit of uniqueness
