Do you have part# for timing belt? How about other stuff that should be changed at same time?

Other things to change at 60K are plugs, accessory belts, pollen filter, oil, air filter.

Default see post below about tensioner kit

The new style tensioner requires a bigger belt, so it may be best to get the kit to avoid headaches (my local dealer couldn't remember what the right size belt was for the new tensioner)

post below

Default Is this part bad on 1.8 only, or 2.8 30V as well?

And how do we get it swapped-out under warranty, given how some dealers are about the "It's not broken yet, it's within specs" routine?

Default Seized engine because of jumped timing belt......

Last week, my timing belt jumped on my 1998 A4 1.8T. The car has 60,000 miles and out of warranty. The engine has to be replaced --$5K. AoA said they will pick up 40% of the cost. I said that's not good enough - I want them to pick up 100%. I believe they are totally accountable especially when the manual says 90,000 miles. They said it's their "goodwill gesture". I say it's a defective part. By reading this thread, I've learned Audi has changed the tensioner and, of course, I had the old tensioner. Has anyone had any success with AoA yielding?
