I am looking at front Big Brake kits and saw that the brembos cost quite a lot more than the stoptechs. What are the pros/cons of the different kits? Are the brembos really worth the $700 extra?

Brembos are not.
Win-win with StopTech being cheaper IMHO, and for customer service there is NO better tuning company to deal with than StopTech.

But I remember someone doing a test between the two, Stasis? Istook? Anyway, they ran both sets on an equal course, melted the brembo calipers down, but the stoptechs ran fine.

My Brembo's work quite well with the stock system (OK, so the older ABS system is confused at times with the decel. forces)...Just don't go too large for your master cylinder.

I guess it depends on what your looking for in a kit. I like that some Porsche kits use oem a8 rotors which means you can get new rotors cheap!
I dont line the idea of paying tons of money for rotor! I also like the bridge design of the porsche kit. anyway, look into it.

The Brembo Monoblocs are good (relative term here), they are not as good as the Stoptech or Brembo 2 piece calipers. While the monoblocs may be lighter and fancier (Porsche OEs them), the one piece aluminum will eventually produce more flex under constant/heavy use. If you look at all high end calipers (Alcons, Brembos, etc.) on race cars, they are of 2 piece designs.
Depending on your application/requirements, you may/may not need 2 piece calipers. If you are doing track/DE events, you may want to look for 2-piece rotors as well. The 1 piece rotors will likely warp under DE/track use. I just warped one of mine at Watkins Glen last week.

If the 2-pc is better, then why does Porsche not use them on the new GT2 and GT3 cars? I have a very hard time believing that the mono's flex more than the 2-pc's. But, either way, I highly doubt the driver can tell.
If you get any Brembo 2-pc caliper, get the Porsche versions as the bridge bolts are larger (Ferrari versions may use the larger bolts too?).

I know some people have had trouble getting pads for their stoptechs...I know I could get pads for porsche calipers for real cheap and off the shelf, so if I had to do it again, I'd stick with porsche stuff (probably bigger).
pads are also half the price of stoptech pads.
