Default That's not lag (more)

You guys don't know what lag really is unless you drive a car with a _big_ turbo. I don't agree with you guys in thinking that a k03 or 04 really has any appreciable turbo lag, even when the programming is set to over 1.0 bar gauge.

Personally, I would not boost an A4 tip to the power levels that you guys are talking about, just MHO.

Default It is lag...but I know what you mean...with a large turbo you really do get the sense you're winding

up a large flywheel...or a rubber band...boy when it hits it really hits, but you kinda gotta plan your moves :-)

Default Still looking for some Tip testomonials..............

Can anyone share some exeriences with performance upgrades to a Tiptronic (besides just the usual chip/filter/exhaust upgrade level)??

I'm really looking to hear some first hand experiences with any of the following packages on a Tiptronic:

APR Stage 3 (280 HP)
TAP Stage III+ (255 HP)
K04...various suppliers.....(230-250HP)

I've read and talked to people that have put the PES Supercharger on Tip cars with great success. I have further read that the Tiptronic transmissions on the 1.8T and 2.8 V6 are exactly the same tranny (same Audi part number). The PES is stated to put out 280 HP and over 300 ft lbs of torque.

So..............If the PES package works well, why wouldn't the highly touted APR Stage 3 work equally well? Of course, a transmission cooler would be a wise move to as a saftey precaution.

Anyone with experience care to comment?????

Default Re: Info..

Clark,

Did you upgrade the CAT and downpipe with this setup? Also, I notice that on your website, you show a different exhause manifold with the K04 kit, but you didn't mention using it with this posting?

Lastly, would you recommend the K04 with bigger injectors or stock injectors? I read another posting that indicated GIAC has two different software upgrades for the K04 (one for bigger injectors and one for stock injectors). Any recommendations?

Default The 944T has the large K26

The early 5KTQ cam with almost the same version of the K26. The RS2 also came with a large K26. By large, I mean the hot side. There was more variety in the cold side.

Default Let me try to help narrow things down..

Stage III: currently makes the most power. The problem is your tranny. I'm sure it can be detuned to work reliably with the tranny but will you be getting what you expect for your dollar? That is something you have to think about since we all have various type's of income.

TAP: Avoid tap unless they are in your area. There are better tuner's and tuners' programs available.

I'd esp recommend these two vendors b/c they put in the most R&D (K-o4) and they both use the same software (to my knowledge).

Turbo5 offerings: They run the kit. They have develoved a FMIC to work with the K-03, K-04..etc.

PES: They run the ko4 kit as well.

All three partnerships/sole proprietorships from what ive seen are consitant in efforts to have the lateset n' greatest gizmo for the (us) market but you need to find what if best. Call all three vendors and find out what realistic power can be achived and what is best for your car.

I hope I helped

Default 44 k26 & g25

How would the base stage III turbo (gt25?) compare in power delivery and output to a typical 44 turbo.

I'm sure the efficiencey is there (gt)25 due to shaft vs. bearing and I know the kit is meant to be smooth re: power output.

Can you compare the two turbo's AFA 'power punch' goes being that they both hit upstairs?
