Default Re: and the VR6 vs. stock TB pics...

I need your help xr4tic, I have almost the same setup as you in progress (stock turbo though), and was wondering what timing belt you are using since the OEM one doesn't fit at all.

On your site it says that you are using a 155T belt, what car is that off and where did you find it?
Its still too short to use the tensionner on it, have you found a permanent solution to this?

Thanks John.

Default I don't remember what it was off of....

I got it from Pep Boys, it's a Dayco belt. Most places should have a book that lists the belt's dimensions. I just looked for 155T, 1" width (I think my belt is actually 15/16") and the same teeth spacing as the stock belt.

I've got the receipt at home, I'll see what the part number on the receipt is and let you know.

Default The ideal belt would be 156T or 157T

depending on the tensioner used, but the they only make 155T and 159T belts, nothing in between.

I used the smaller, old style tensioner pulley, and just used a bolt to tighten it down. It's a tight fit, but it works.

The part number on the receipt was 0-38244-91397.

One last thing, I live in Canada and we don't have PepBoys here, and everyone needs the application of the belt rather than its characteristics to find it. To them a 155T doesn't mean anything. Any chance you could find out what car (make/model/year) this 155T belt is designed for?

Thanks

Thanks John. Without this belt I'm at a complete standstill.

BTW, hows the car doing? Got the fueling (too rich) problem fixed? What chip are you running now?
