Default You are going to weld the flap shut? and...

What, mount a flange to the exhaust manifold? Thats the way I prefer to do it. On DSMS they have an 02 housing which is partitioned like the internat gate turbos. They remove the WG flap from the internal gate turbos and put a hole in the 02 housing and then mount the flange to that and then the gate. This set up is useless if the hole in your turbo is 35 mm or whatever your WG is. I will get a pic of this set up for you just for laughs.

Default I think you can just use a back plate to close off the internal wg outlet

and then install a external wg on the manifold. With my setup I went straight to a external wg since the turbo is setup that way to start with.

It will come off at the track. I can do without the huge flame under my car here in CA.

Default These are the ways I am aware of:

Internal Recirculated:

Internal Dumped
<img src="http://www.turbotrix.com/images/o2_dumptube.jpg">

External/Internal combo (Internal flapper removed)
<img src="http://www.turbotrix.com/images/o2_wastegate2.jpg">

Mounted to Manifold (Flap welded shut or non gated turbo)
<img src="http://www.turbotrix.com/images/tialmanifold2.jpg">

Though it is not visible from this picture, this turbine housing has a hole in it and a flange for a gate to be mounted directly to it.

Default FP has much better pics of that last FP30 turbo pic you posted.

Actually I have posted the pics of that turbo installed onto a manifold/block. It uses a V-band to clamp the ext wastgate to the turbo exhaust housing.
