Default xr4tic

i found a belt that might fit the new tensioner for our setup.

Its a belt for a Fiat Brava 16v 1.6l ('96-'01)
p/n: Dayco: 158RHP254H or 158SHP254H (same thing)
Gates: 5432X
Optibelt: 99158X25HSN

all we need to do is find one of these and see if they fit, as for the 155T, I think its from a Honda Prelude '9?-'01 2.2l VTEC (H22A).

Default I went to Pep Boys today (long belt research post)...

and looked up the belt in the Dayco catalog, and found the part number 95226, but they couldn't tell me what it goes to.

I checked the Dayco website, and a 99 Honda Prelude 2.2 uses part number 95226.

So I guess that's the belt that I have.

I'm guessing that the Fiat belt is 158T, and 1" wide (from the 158 and 254 in the part number)

I looked up the Prelude belt, and it's 155RHP+240H -> 155T and ~15/16" (24.0mm) wide

The Audi A4 belt is 152STP254H -> 152T, 1" (25.4mm) wide

I'm guessing the R and S indicate Round or Square tooth (The Audi belt is Square, but the Prelude belt is Round) As for the other letters I don't know.

There is a 157RP254H, for a 94-95 Renault Laguna 2.2, but I checked the Continental belt description, and it has 9.525mm teeth spacing, not 8mm like the Audi

The Fiat belt is 158T, 8mm spacing, and sort of square tooth.

The Audi belt is STD, The Fiat is STDA
There's a description of the two on the bottom of this page:
<a href="http://www.contitech-online.com/ct/contitech/themen/produkte/antriebsriemen/kfz_ersatz/synchrobelt_e.html" target="_blank">http://www.contitech-online.com/ct/contitech/themen/produkte/antriebsriemen/kfz_ersatz/synchrobelt_e.html</a>

I downloaded some of the catalogs here:
<a href="http://www.contitech-online.com/ct/contitech/themen/produkte/antriebsriemen/kfz_ersatz/download_e.html" target="_blank">http://www.contitech-online.com/ct/contitech/themen/produkte/antriebsriemen/kfz_ersatz/download_e.html</a>

I'd guess the Prelude belt is more like HTDA.

FWIW, I tried a 159T belt and it was way too big.

The 158T Fiat belt might work, if you use the new style larger tensioner, and adjust it manually.

FWIW, the Conti part number is CT879 for the Fiat belt.

Default Thanks John

So i'm guessing that youre satisfied with the Prelude belt.
I still have the old tensioner pulley (thank God), but would like to eventually get a proper belt, one that fits on the new style tensioner. Also those round teeth don't make me feel too comfortable as the wear of the belt will be quite uneven.

Default It's been on for almost 20k miles now....

no problems yet.

At least with the 155T belt and small tensioner pulley, even if the tensioner comes loose, the belt is still tight and wont skip.

I don't have the upper belt cover on (it wouldn't fit) so I can check the belt to make sure it's OK if I need to.

You might have to invest in an adjustable cam gear as well, it will be about 1/2 tooth off because of the taller deck height.

It's not absolutely necessary, and I'm not sure if it would hurt if you didn't have one, but I wanted to be on the safe side.

John, check this:
&lt;http://www.contitech-online.com/ct/contitech/themen/produkte/antriebsriemen/kfz_ersatz/docs/TechnNews00_01_e.pdf&gt;
section 2.2
it pretty much says STD and STDN belts can be interchanged without problems

Default That's good to know...

now the question is, how do I get my hands on one of those belts?
