That may be good and bad news. The 6-speed DSG is getting some knocks over at the A3 forum for jerkiness. Does anyone know if the higher HP means this is the newer 2.0 that is now standard in a lot of Audi models like the A3 and A4?

I believe the “newer”/current 2.0 TSFI engine was introduced in 2009 as the successor of the highly successful two-liter engine which, since 2005, was voted Engine of the Year three times in succession by an international jury of journalists. This "newer" the engine has been used in various forms since 2009 in the 2015 A3, the A4, A5, A6, Q5 and possibly the new Q7 in the US. It started as 211 HP and 258 lb/ft torque but is now up on both counts.
To my knowledge the major changes to this “newer” engine include:
• Spin-on oil filter (previous 2.0T had a cartridge unit that used very expensive elements and required special tools to service)
• Easier to access engine air filter
• Timing chain (previous 2.0T had a timing belt with replacement every 110k miles @ $1200)
• Two balance shafts
• Higher flow fuel pump
• Redesigned PCV system
My understanding is that the older (pre-2009) 2.0 TSFI is what is in the 2015 US Q3. I am hoping that the “newer” engine is what will be in the 2016 US Q3. That to me is more important than the switch from Tiptronic to DSG.

Aren't you missing the biggest change to the engine, that being part port and part direct injection... to combat deposit build-up.

I wasn't trying to explain all the changes, just trying to point out there are more than one version/generation of the 2.0 TSFI currently used for US bound Audi's (something a lot of folks don't reslize) and I hope the 2016 Q3 has the latest one. I always lease, so the longer-term improvements probably aren't as important to me as they are to folks who buy. Good input though, thanks.
Do you know which engine will be in the 2016 Q3? There are codes/numbers for the various engines but I don't k now them; it would be easier to reference them I suppose. lol
