Garage location setting and alert

I set the location for my garage door and it pops up when I am 30-40 feet away. The pop up to open the garage door only stays on the screen for about 10 seconds. If I am not paying attention I miss it. Does anyone know if the time it remains on the screen can be extended or a more accurate way to not have the pop become active until I am in the drive way?
