Default Long term Q3 Gen 1 (2016) ownership

We are almost 9 years into our 2016 Q3. It has a little over 70,000 miles. It has been rock solid. We haven’t had a single repair. Ironically, we had to replace the rear brakes but the front brakes were fine. What are the long-term ownership experiences? Can this car have 140,000 trouble free miles?

I believe it's very possible to go there or beyond. Our 2018 Q3 (before selling it to get the current gen) had 100k miles and was rock solid. Did not burn a drop of oil and was still on the original brakes. Quite a bit of the 100k was highway driving, but still, everything functioned as it did the day we purchased it.

If you live in a moist or road-salt area, inspect the rear control arms and rear subframe for rust. If it hasn't burned oil yet that probably won't become an issue. Change oil every 5k, brake fluid 2 years (or whatever the spec is), and follow factory intervals on other fluids. Mechanically the car is simpler than the larger variants.

If you park it outside, regularly inspect the sunroof and cowl drains for proper function. You may eventually need to clean the carbon from the intake system, but that isn't a huge deal as the engine is quite accessible.

We never had a single issue with our '16 Q3 until it got totalled with around 65k mi on it. The '18 we replaced the '16 with only had 1 very minor issue that we worked around vs even taking it in to be looked at.

I have 2016 Q3 with 88K miles. Only major repair cost has been a corroded battery cable that took dealer nearly a week to diagnose/fix - $800. Rear hatch motor was replaced under warranty. Drives well. I just got the "lifetime" transmission fluid changed and independent for $720, and i do believe it is shifting smooth. I DIY oil every 5K using mitivac, have done accessory belt and oil separator. I too have alot of brake pad left. The car is neither fast nor slow - just about average.
You can exepct more and more cost as it ages, and at some point you should plan for replacement vehicle in future.
