Default $390 oil change

I got my 5000 mile service done. While at the dealer I asked how much the 15k mile service would be. He printed out the service which includes oil change, cabin pollen filter change, and some basic inspections. Total price $390, and doesn't include tire rotation, which would add another $25.

This sounds so funny to me, as there must be a huge profit in there. Someone recently mentioned that their 15k mile service cost about $200, which sounds more reasonable.

I will call a couple other dealers for their prices, but if they're all greater than $250, I guess I'll have to get Audi Care for $790.

My previous Lexus wasn't this expensive. My BMW of course had maintenance included.

Now, when my 330 out of free maintenance, I shop around for good price for oil change. My dealer ask for $220. I found local BMW shop, they change for $95. They inform me that it's time to change my cabin air filter - additional $99. I order filter on-line ($29.99 + Sh) and install during my lunch break in 10 min. And I am not a handy man.
Shop around, 390 is way to much.

If you can't change your own oil you should turn in you man card.

Ouch! $300 bones, sounds like you might want to pony up for the Audi Care Package.

Mofsteel: some people don't have that luxury of space/time/equipment to do their own oil change :/

space/time/luxury?

It's an oil change not a dip in a hot tub.

I enjoy changing my own. In Audis I use 0w30 Castrol European formula which meets the specs (autozone) and an Audi filter (Mobil One 0w40 works as well). You can do this for less than $50 bucks and know it was done right. I only go 5,000 miles (not 10,000 miles). Dealer does a hard sell on audi care which is a good deal if you will be using the dealer. A no brainer actually.
