Default ?@$#@! Dealer - EVAP Purge Valve

So I brought in my '10 Q5 to get the thermostat replaced AGAIN (replaced back in Jan 2013).

On the way home wife says check engine light comes on. I scan it and it shows the following code:

6186 - EVAP Purge Valve (N80)
P1426 00 [237] - Open Circuit
MIL ON - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00000001
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 1
Mileage: 79400 km
Date: 2013.12.18
Time: 16:41:25

After some 'google-fu' it sounds like they forgot to reconnect the EVAP purge valve's sensor wiring. Popped the hood and sure enough its not connected. Morons!

I looked high and low and could not find the connector. Anyone have any clue where it could be?

Once my warranty is up - guess who won't be visiting the dealer anymore for repair work.

I see no one got back to you overnight. Hope you gave them an earful this morning (after asking the service manager where the connector is located).

Call the dealer and tell them you are bringing it right back and you expect someone to correct the issue while you wait.

Called the dealer first thing in the morning - he understood I was not happy. Drove it over, and after waiting 30 minutes they we're able to plug the connector back in.

So now we all know the answer to the question:

How long does it take your stealership to plug a connector back into its socket?

Sorry to hear your situation was resolved, but unfortunately mistakes do happen. In college I had some work done at a mechanic. When I went to pick it up, the car started accelerating uncontrollably and wouldn't stop. It went flying around the parking lot at 20-30mph and the e-brake only slowed it down for a few seconds. It started accelerating again as I turned another corner so I threw the transmission into park and my car finally came to a halt. The mechanic said something about the throttle cable being too tight and re-adjusted it. Be glad your wife didn't experience something like that!
