Default 18" vs. 19" wheels..

Hey guys, I'm contemplating getting my Q5 with the optional 19" wheels(not S-Line). Can anyone who has driven both let me know if the ride quality is drastically different?

Thanks
-Brian

Default 19"

we just got a Q5 (prem + with nav) and got the 19" 5 spoke, they're great, i recommend them -- it's a sportier, slightly more firm ride than the stock 18s but even my wife likes it better, the 20" S-line feels too firm to me

+1, emphasis on "slightly". I drove Q5's with both 18" and the 19" wheels. Go for the 19's, are much easier to clean and maintain. In my opinion look better too. Car handles great!!

there are 211 Q5s here on AW. 101 have posted rim size. Sizes as follows.
23 are on 18"
33 are on 19" of these 2 use smaller size for winter
44 are on 20" of these 3 use smaller size for winter option.
1 is on 22"

My conclusion is that if you want 19" you are in good company and 20" seems to be fine too.

I agree, the 19" looks better and easier to clean. Even the material seems like higher quality. I drove both the 18" and the 19", the 19" actual had a softer ride, I think it was because the 18" had Dunlops and the 19" had Good year tires.

I test drove an S-line w/ 20" wheels, drove a Q5 with 18" wheels for 2 days waiting for my car to come in, and now own a Q5 w/ 19" wheels. There is not much difference in the ride between the 18" and 19". It was a bit rougher going up to the 20" but still wasn't bad.

19" are ok
remember nevertheless that tyres get exponentionaly more expensive every time you go a measure higher...

The Yokohama Parada Spec-X's were only $130 per tire on Tire Rack for the 20"s... Pretty good for an all-season tire.

in CA ours came with Michelins 235/55/19 with the 19s -- agree the build quality of the 19 rims is much nicer too than 18
