I was worried about the same as we anxiously awaited it's arrival, without having seen the color first hand. We were delighted to see that it looked more dark gray, however, in the light it does have a purple hue that is apparent. In my opinion, this gives it a pearl-like look. Overall, from someone who was worried about driving a purple vehicle, I would choose the same color again in a heart beat.

Myself went through the process of having to decide amethyst gray. Personally im concious about driving a purple car. Tho in the showroom it looks more purple than gray. But that could be just the lighting conditions. After a few visits to the showroom, i decided on lava gray.

Do any of you Amethyst Gray owners have any new/updated/better photos?

I have an Amethyst Gray (metallic) A5 on order, and I'd like to see as many good photos of this color, since I've never seen the color in-person, and because I have (from what the dealer says) is another 7-month wait until the car gets here.

it's the combination of black,grey and purple.
It's hard to imagine this color in your head, well but lets say, i love it.

I haven't seen one in Amethyst in the flesh, but it seems very similar to Lava Grey with a little more purple in it. The photos are interesting in that it looks the same as the Lava Grey in the night shot and very close in the day frames. Nice colour.
