BMW announce new X3. I will stick with Q5.

- xDrive28i
- 3.0L inline 6-cylinder (N52 motor)
- Magnesium/aluminum construction, valvetronic variable valve lift / double VANOS
- 240hp @ 6600rpm
- 230 lb-ft torque between 2600-3000rpm
- 0-60mph in 6.7 secs (preliminary quote)
- Auto Start Stop Function
- xDrive35i
- 3.0L inline 6-cylinder (N55 motor), direct injection, twin scroll turbo and valvetronic
- 300hp @ 5800rpm
- 300 lb-ft torque between 1200-5000rpm
- 7000rpm redline
- 0-60mph in 5.5 secs (preliminary quote)
- 150mph Top Speed (with optional sport package)
- Auto Start Stop Function
- 8-speed automatic transmission
- Taller cruising gears to increase fuel efficiency

Guaranteed to cost a zillion dollars more than a Q5 with the same options. I remember building one online and basically only getting 4 wheels and a windshield in the base model. Not sure how they can justify it in the same buyer space as us.

--> It definitely is the benchmark..last week, I saw the new dealership X3 on the road in the Baltimore. I am not sure how that happened, but probably the dealers got a new one just to hang it in the showroom? But oh man, was it ugly or what! I never liked the older X3 in the first place, the new one is uglier! just for fun, I accelerated the Q5 while passing X3 and the driver over there got the hint and we "tested" the cars on their acceleration on the I-83 before I had to to take the exit :-)
