We got a 2011 Q5 2.0T, Premium Plus, Navigation, 19" wheels in Brilliant Black w/ Cinnamon interior. The sticker or MSRP was $44,155. We got it for $40,535 which we were told was $250 over invoice.
So, I can't really tell you too much about the GLK but I can tell you that you won't be dissapointed in the Q5.

Regarding the GLK, I rode in the back seat of one, and it was really cramped. It seems the C class would have at least as much rear leg room as the GLK.

Thats what I am leaning to the GLK. Invoice on GLK is 37850 plus I do not need to pay security deposit on a MB.
You can't say you get more bang for your buck on the Q5 cause the Q5 costs more money.
I realize this is a Audi Q5 forum and expected the overall lean to be towards the Q5 but I appreciate all the great feedback. If I asked same question on the GLK forum I would get the reverse.
I see very few GLKs on the road in San Diego and I have been looking for one sine last weekend and have not seen one. Although I don't see tons of Q5s either.
I saw the GLK again today when I picked up my C300... I still really like the boxy style and love the 20" wheels. If I could get the 2.0T with the 20" S-Line wheels it might be a different story.
Maybe after a test drive I will change my mind...
Go Chargers!!!

It appears that the GLK rear leg room is pretty cramped. Though I haven't tried it myself. I am happy to say though that the Q5 has very comfortable rear seats and leg room. I'm 5'10 and my wife is 5'1. I have no complaints from the rear passengers when I'm driving. When my wife drives the rear feels like an A8L. :P
With 4 pcs of luggage I find myself having to slide the rear seats up a little for the largest suitcase so the longest side will fit the depth of the cargo area. I'm not sure how the GLK will do.

It's a bit of potluck depending on your employer, but we were able to get a 6% discount on ours through the Audi Supplier Program due to my wife's company (a consulting firm). Worth checking out whether your company is on the list!

The base GLK is pretty bare bone, no AWD, no leather seat and missing a bunch of other options that is standard on a Q5. If you add up all the options, its about the same price. The Q5 is a bigger SUV than the GLK, our impression was that the Q5 should be comapre to the ML instead of the GLK. Once you test drive and feel and touch the build material, you will realized that the quality of the Q5 is similar to the ML and the GLK is actually one class below. If you look at it that way, the Q5 is better value than the GLK.

I actually like the GLK's styling because it is different than all the other crossovers. However, the terrible gas mileage would keep me away. MB needs to improve their fuel efficiency. They are behind Audi and BMW.

GLK is very solid built quality, being 2010 first model year, not many issues reported definitely not a typical first year model. Regarding Mercedes, all quality is up and for those that worry about the Chrysler issues, those were long gone mostly 2007+ have no worries.
go drive both, pick what you like.
also check some videos on youtube, there's a quite a few from Russia comparing the Q5 and GLK as well as showing their real world and offroad capabilities, no need to understand the language, seeing what they do is pretty good

The MB GLK 320 and the Q5 are two different animals. I have the Q5 and my best friend bought the GLK 320 because he did not want to spend the slightly extra money for the Q5.
I have the 2010 Q5 and he has 2010 GLK320. The ride of the cars are very similar. Handling is much better in the Q5. AWD is a premium with GLK and standard on the Q5. The major drawback for the GLK is the size of the back seat which have much less leg room than the Q5.
Other than that, it is really personal preference. Both have excellent engines, but personally, I feel the Q5 appears to be better built. I live in the Northeast and 4 wheel drive is essential, so the price between the two vehicles similarly equipped is about the same.
