I agree, it's pretty subjective. I owned a Touareg myself and I guess to me the Q5 "feels" more sporty in the way it drives and handles

I thought the Q7 and touareg was equal and then the Q5 and tiguan was equal. By equal I meaning built on the same platform. So how can you compare the two.

I agree with you. Q7 is more than comparable with Touareg. We initially thinking of getting the new Touareg TDI but ended up with Q7 TDI instead. Figured I wouldn't want to take a chance on owning a brand new model year vehicle.

Not sure why some of you want to compare cars based on platforms. I usually compare cars based on budget and what I am looking for.

Even if the Q5 and tiguan share the same platform, they're completely two different cars with the tiguan being a lot smaller. I doubt anyone checking the tiguan would consider the Q5 or vice versa. The cost of the other cars here in Kuwait are as follows:

2011 Touareg = KD14,950
2011 Q5 = Starts at KD14,500 but one I am getting is KD16,000
2011 X3 = KD15,500
2011 Q7 = KD17,000
2011 X5 = KD17,500

KD1 = $3.5

So for me they're all fairly similar pricing wise and they're all good looking SUVs with the X5, Touareg and Q7 being larger than the other two.

The only thing relating the Q5 and Tiguan is that they are both VAG vehicles.

VW do not have a Q5 based vehicle in their line up. The Q5 shares its platform with the A4, VW do not have an A4 based vehicle - the Tig is a Golf derivative. The two vehicles are very very different.

This doesn't mean that the Tig is not good (in fact it is very good) it just means that they are not related.

Firstly those are the 2010 prices. Secondly the local dealer currently has only 2 kinds of Q5's and one kind of Q7.

The Q5s are on sale now with one model costing KD14,500 and the other KD15,500. The difference between the two is the sline kit, larger 20inch wheels and B&O sound system. Both without navigation.

The 19,580KD Q7 is now on sale for KD17,200 as well.

X5 they have 2 models, one with navigation and sunroof the other without. The model with nav and sunroof is currently around KD19,500 while the model without is for KD17,500.

Touareg they only have one model and its for KD14,950.

Sorry guys, I think we are mostly stating the prices based on US here. As far as I know, Touareg TDI in Executive trim and Q7 TDI here with Premium Plus (about the same features with T-reg) is about the same price (~$60K), that's why we cross-shopped these 2 vehicles.
