That's true unless you sell the car yourself. As said earlier, this is a relatively minor fender bender. Keep good records, pictures, etc.. so you have them ready when it's time to sell. When I sold my Saab I was only competing against 1 other one for sale in my area. Both were priced similarly, but the guy chose mine because he liked grey better than black and saw the accident was just a simple rear-end job that cost $4k to fix.

It wasn't that long ago when a $4K repair would have been a near total on a four year old car. Got to love that inflation.
