2012 Q5 Hood Struts
Can someone help me out with the following situation.
I replaced the hood on my 2012 Q5. The original hood was aluminum, the new is steel. Problem is, the struts aren't able to bear the weight of the steel hood. The technician @ the body shop said the struts are good. Are there struts for the steel hood? I called my local Audi dealer and they said they only have one type of struts for my vehicle. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I would see about having then replace the hood with the proper material. Or at least replace your hood struts with something better. As far as I am concerned they haven't completed there job. I vechicle doesn't operate as it did before the repair. Regardless this is gonna cost someone more then 50$ to fix.

When installing CF hood is it necessary (i.e. wise) to remove the mechanism which holds the hood up?
