I used 3/4 of a quart in the first 3500 miles. About 1/4 of a quart ever since. Now at 14200 miles. It's all about the break-in. If you baby it during break-in they use oil. Driving spiritedly after warm-up in the first 1000 miles is key to not burning oil with our 2.0T's. My observation and others. I had the luxury of towing a 2000 lb trailer on the interstate for 4 hours with 600 miles on it for my spirited break-in.
Dealer was adamant about as well. Only stipulation was to stay under 115 MPH for the first 500 miles and always make sure the oil is fully warmed up first. Still haven't been over 115 mph btw. Worked for me!

The wife's 2011 with 38k has never had the light come on and we have audicare so we've never done anything to it...
First 1000 miles or so I watched it, but not since...
