Anyone know how this effects a leased car? Are you screwed when you turn in your vehicle if it's been TD1 flagged?

When you lease a car, you are signing a contract to keep it stock. The residual value is based on a stock car. If you chip it and get the TD1 flag, the dealer has the right to increase the depreciation on the car, which will lower the determined value at the end of the lease. I'd imagine they will make you fork over the extra bucks to cover the lower value of the car. So if you think chipping it will only cost $1200 think again. It's probably going to cost you 5x that amount.

I wonder how dealers get around that when they sell the STaTIS tune for the S4,S5,Q7, you might ask them as the TD1 flag would still be there.

Yeah kind of curious on the STaSIS tune as well. I wouldn't consider doing the APR/GIAC tune for the very reason of running the potential of Audi denying service due to the tune. However, I've never had any issues with my STaSIS tuned S4.
I'm curious how AOA handles lease returns of STaSIS tuned vehicles. Anyone know?

AWD & Gearing. You can't beat it for 0-60. But you can feel it run out of breath a little, once you're moving - past the spike from peak TQ. No where near as bad as the 2.0T, of course. It would have been just that much better, had Audi been able to tune the Q's 3.0T closer to a nice 300/300.

Any of the Audis that moved from the prior six speeds (like earlier Q5 flavors) to the eight speed trannies picked up a noticeable acceleration improvement, even if motor didn't otherwise change. On the bigger Audi's I've found the eight speeds aren't as smooth as the sixes, but definitely give it some lower starting gears. Anything blown (like the 3.0T) is going to pick up more low end torque too to further improve things relative to an N.A. motor of similar size.
