2013 Q5 Tail Lights - no amber signal
Good Day All,
One of the things I liked about the 2013 Q5 from the photos, was the amber LED strip turn signal. I thought it looked very modern. I also am not a fan of the whole break light flashing on cars. However, the actual 2013 Q5 does NOT have the amber strip (at least not in the US). The whole break light flashes and the signal strip is red.
Hopefully there will be a way to retrofit the light with the amber version and there is some program to change it so that only the strip flashes. I am assuming that the European version has the amber turn signal. Hopefully I can swap the assembly out and tweak the controller to only flash the amber strip. Lots of assumptions, but hopefully I can eventually make it happen.

Amber is not required in the US. I prefer it too - MUCH easier to distinguish. Especially when you're in fast, heavy freeway traffic.
Having said that, the red LED blinker on the Q5 is astoundingly bright. Nothing like the pansy blinkers on older American cars.
