I'm sure there's some reasonably good reason for it, but it still seems odd without having that reason.

The German configurator shows the new rear window spoiler on the 3.0T w/ S-Line ext. package as well as on the SQ5. Wonder if that's just for the Euro models? I think it looks really good. I don't understand why they offer different things in different countries except of course the emissions stuff. i.e. Lava Red in Canada and not in the U.S? They're making them anyway so why won't they sell them here? Strange marketing tactics.
In the USA 2.0 TFSI Premium Plus $ 42,000 = 32.600EUR similar model in Europe 49.000EUR = $ 63,000
2.0 TFSI ® Prestige Hybrid $ 52,200 = 40.400Eur in EU = 57.000EUR=73.500$

Seriously though, that sucks!

Here in Austria all Audi Q5 full S-line models and Audi SQ5 are coming with new spoiler.
According to ETKA 7 Audi Update 933:
8R0 827 933 A spoiler GRU primed / old (normal) spoiler
8R0 827 933 B spoiler GRU primed / new (S-Line/SQ5) spoiler
I was surprised when I noticed, one month ago, new (and really much better looking) spoiler. Q5 looks much better with this new spoiler. Designers at Audi are real masters in their job.
In case someone want to change old spoiler with new one:
- WHT 002 258 hex. nut, self-locking with washer M6 QTY 2
- 8R0 827 555 cover 01C satin black left QTY 1
- 8R0 827 556 cover 01C satin black right QTY 1
- WHT 004 080 hex socket head bolt (combi) M5X12 QTY 2
- WHT 005 751 round-head screw with inner hexagon socket head M5X15 QTY 2
- 6L6 853 486 B locking clip
and maybe it's good to have new ball studs in case you damage old:
- 8J8 827 439 ball stud M8/T30
it's around 350 EUR here + painting

Unless something has changed in the last year, I could be wrong.
I was in an Audi dealer in Munich a few years back. Sticker price on an A4 2.0 S-line was around 40,000E ($66,000 at the time!). Dealer said that includes VAT, and a lot of his customers lease for 5+ years to make it affordable. Cars are more of a commitment for the average German.
Lots of families also only have one car, although i gotta say, their cars in Bavaria are much nicer on average that what I see in New Jersey. They take very good care of them too on average.
