Now I'm also a believer of breaking in an Audi like you stole it. I left the dealer in Sport mode, got on the interstate, and took at the gears to reline. I only drive in Sport mode, winding out the gears. I did this with my past two A4's and always used less than a quart of oil in 10K miles between oil changes.

The tech told me the fix Audi came up with is a new breather valve, crankshaft seal and a software update added to the 2011 or 2012 model year 2.0 engine. That is what the first step is when you complain to the dealer about excessive oil use. After reading the different forums that doesn't seem to fix the problem on quite a few engines since the update. So my personal thought is they are still denying there is a problem with some of the motors. I might not be in the small percentage of people that have this problem but if I am, the process to hopefully get it resolved, to me is a pain in the butt. I'm not saying the engine is a complete failure at all. I was fortunate not to have the problem with my 2010 A4 but I don't have the confidence to try again.

This new 2014 2.0T engine was used in European 2013 Q5s, so there is over one year of real world history on this newer 2.0T and there doesn't seem to be many complaints. It's completely different (new head, turbo, added indirect fuel injector, cam timing actuator, etc.) Most techs don't even know that yet. I'm coming off a 3.0 A4 and really can't complain about my 2.0T compared to that. My big hurt with the 2014, 2.0T is that it's sweet spot for cruising is 85-90 mph, I have a very hard time keeping it near 70...
