Default 2014 Q5 - 10k miles - soft/spongy brake pedal

the more i drive my wife's Q5, the more i feel like the brake pedal is excessively soft. it stops fine but the pedal travels quite a bit and is spongy. it's a 3.0 with S-Line package and i can't remember if the brakes vary amongst the assorted models.

my daily driver is a '99.5 Pathfinder with 185k miles and my other car is a very low mileage C 63 and both have better pedal feel than the Q5, haha.

does anyone feel this way about theirs?

I do find a lot of travel... but.. that travel enables wonderful brake modulation. The more I press, the more it brakes. My 11 Avalon was pretty much 'binary'.. either the brakes were on or off and the pedal was nice and tight but unmodulabable. The Q5 is the opposite and I love it.

We bought a CPO 2014 Q5 3.0 S Line a few months ago with 10k miles and after driving for a couple weeks we noticed the brakes felt odd. Spongy, loud squealing and once felt like they almost wanted to lock up under very light pedal pressure. My 2001 S4 felt better so we took it in and they agreed the brakes felt off and ended up bleeding the system and changing the pads. The soft pedal and other symptoms went away but the squeal is still there when the brakes and/or outside temps are cold. May be worth having it checked, the service manager drove ours home to get the symptoms to show up. Hope this helps.
