Default 2015 SQ5 PCV Regulating Valve

Hi all, I am looking for some advice regarding an issue I am having with my 2015 SQ5.

I did a scan using OBDeleven on my 2015 SQ5 (72,000KM) because the MIL appeared on my dashboard. It showed two faults, the first P045600 was corrected by Audi as TSB 2035073 / 12 related to the issue and was fixed for free.

The second fault P052E00 references the PCV Regulator Valve Performance (screenshot attached).

The dealer quoted $730.57 + tax to fix the issue. For what it's worth, I live in Canada so this may be a higher cost than what you would be quoted in the US.

I have 3 questions that I am hoping you may be able to help me with:
  1. Is replacing the PCV a difficult job for a relatively inexperienced person to take on? I've replaced spark plugs in my wife Odyssey before but that is mostly the extent of my wrenching experience outside wheel changes.
  2. Does this look like the part I would need? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...v/06e103547ab/ If it is too big of a job for me I will probably source the parts get a local independent german speciality auto mechanic to install it.
  3. As I was making this post I realized that in the OBDeleven screenshot above that this code was first thrown on September 28, 2018. My warranty (4year) expired on August 31, 2018. This is less than a month after my warranty was up. Any chance Audi would consider fixing it for free? I mean, the dealer didn't offer but perhaps if I followed up with Audi Canada?

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Interesting you should post this. My 2014 SQ5 is in the shop right now for its 65k mile maintenance and they pulled a fault for intermittent PCV shut off valve N548. In my case it never set of a MIL but I wonder if it is the same valve. They strongly recommended replacing it since they stated it can affect fuel trim among other things. They quoted me $815 US since they stated it is underneath the supercharger and have to remove it to replace the valve. While I am positive an indy shop will be cheaper it is still a bit of work and I am also sure plenty of people on here have DIY removed the supercharger so it is not out of the realm of being done if you are confident and have the tools.
FWIW sometime the dealer will do a one time goodwill if you are the original owner and you bought it from that dealership. Worth a shot anyway...doesn't hurt to ask.

It is great that the vehicle does provide some warning that the PCV valve is failing. I don't know if you have followed other posts regarding failed PCV valves and resultant blowing out of the main seals. My thinking is to move quickly to resolve this issue.

Yes the P/N 06E103547AB in your link looks like the correct replacement according to the latest Audi ETKA parts listing. There was a switch over from in the middle of the 2015 from P/N 06E103547H to 06E103547AB. The question, that I don't know the answer, is if your current P/N is the H revision and you switch over to the AB revision (which is the only part sold now), is there recoding of the ECU required. The 2.0T engines had PCV upgraded replacements and coding was required. Only a dealer can usually do the coding, I don't know of any independent shops that can supply factory codes.

It also looks like there is a lot of work to replace the 3.0T PCV, the supercharger may need to be removed, along with a lot of other stuff, including the front grill and bumper. I'm not sure of this as I have a 2.0T and the PCV is easy to replace.

Thanks for the info everyone. I think I will take this to the dealer to fix as I wasn't aware the extent of the potential impacts of not fixing it.
Cheers all!

You had asked whether changing the PCV valve by a laymen was possible. Probably not in this case. But you have the opportunity to save on the estimate for front and rear brakes. Plenty of threads, tutorials and videos on doing this for a third to half of dealer cost.

In order to replace the PCV valve you have to do the following:
1. Remove noise insulator
2. Drain coolant
3. Remove Supercharger
4. Remove lower intake manifolds
5. Remove high pressure fuel lines
6 . Remove upper coolant hose
7. Remove and replace PVC unit

Along with the PVC unit you will need some additional materials;
1EA O6E-103-547-AB TRIM
6EA 079-129-717-D GASKET
6EA 079-129-717-B GASKET
6EA 06E-998-907-E REPAIR KIT
1EA N-102-036-01 HOSE CLAMP
1EA N-903-168-01 SEAL RING
1EA 06E-103-213 TUBE
1EA G-103-A8J-1G COOLANT

Plan on at least 5 hours to do the job. A skilled AUDI mechanic can do it in 3 hours.

I had ti replace my failed PVC valve at 39,116 miles. The failure is attributed to heat build-up where the valve is located.
Besides the error code you will hear a faint whistling sound from the engine.

Hope this helps you.

thanks for this info.I am doing the pcv right now and was wondering why I would need pn.06E-998-907 which looks like it is a fuel injector repair kit. Also service manual says to replace breather tube assembly coming from valve covers.Do you know if this is necessary. Thanks for any help
