Default 2016 Q5 delivery timeline

Here are the details on the 2016 Q5 I ordered out here on the west coast.

Order placed: Sept 19
Production "Your Q5 is scheduled to be built": Oct 19

Getting very impatient since i haven't heard anything since Oct 19th. Any thoughts on when I can expect the Q5 to arrive at the dealer? My dealer agent is OOO on vacation, so unable to reach him.

Suggest you call the sales manager and ask for status. There is a wealth of information they can provide you. Once you have the 'ship loaded' you can figure out which ship it is on and track it to the US. This is the info from my car.

From the time it's built, it can easily take another month and a half before the vehicle is sent to the port, loaded on a ship, shipped, unloaded at the destination port, port-installed accessories added (if any), and trucked over to your dealer.

It is interesting that we just have 1.5 months left in 2015 and one of the dealer's condition for purchase of this Q5 is that I need to take delivery *this* year (by dec 20th). Not sure if that will happen now.

If they have taken your deposit for a car that has to be ordered/built from scratch, then I guess they're pretty certain it'll get here by that date.

I just went back and looked at our order history - it was built around the third week of September, and we took delivery at the end of October, so about a month and a week, more or less.

Assuming that the Oct 19 date corresponds to 'release to production' you have a chance for the end of the year. If you look at my dates, my car was released to production about a month after oct 19 and was delivered before the end of January... and my car was loaded on a ship that 'broke' which cost about 10 days of delay for repairs. Its tight but not impossible. Good luck.

thanks folks for the quick replies.

Yes, they took deposit for the car that was ordered to be built from scratch. This deal was to get a good chunk off the msrp.

Oct 19 is when I received an email saying that my car is "Scheduled to be built", so that is essentialy "released to manufacturing", right? Based on don's post, it looks like 2-3 months for car to arrive at dealer. Hope it arrives by december end.

"Scheduled to be built" should mean that you've been assigned a build week, so in between "released to manufacturing" (accepted into the factory's order system) and "released for production" (about to go into production). If you get in touch with your dealer then they should be able to tell you your build week, as well as all the other upcoming ETAs so you have an idea of when it should come in.

My order never had a build week assigned, so I'm not sure how far out they might normally assign them. My car just magically got released to production one day, only knew because I was checking on the ETAs once a week.

looks like my Q5 is at Port and hopefully will be here within the next 5-7 days (assuming all goes well).
