That's still some big bucks compared to the US. The US and Canadian dollar are almost even. Surprising that Audi nails canadian customers almost 100% more for the same option.

That's more like it. Are you sure about the rest of your post figures? You gotta watch those details. Misinformation spreads like wildfire on the internet.

Look at premium paint. $495 in the U.S., $750 in Canada...

(The crazy thing is, the Q5s are beyond sold out in Canada, and good luck getting anything better than MSRP and 5+% interest rates on one...)

Assuming an average of 12000 miles per year and combined MPG of the 3.2 at 22 MPG and the 2.0T at 22 MPG. Thats 600 gallons a year for the 2.0T and 545 gallons a year for the 3.2L. That 55 gallons a year difference at $3 a gallon for 8 years, that comes out to $1320. Also, you will get most of that back at trade in time because the trade in value for the 3.2L is higher than the 2.0T.

The $5000 included the price difference in the purchase price to start with!!! The OP was working out the difference in the overall cost between the 3.2 & 2.0T in Canada over 8 years. Which is $4000 in price alone to start with.
