The $5000 included the price difference in the purchase price to start with!!! The OP was working out the difference in the overall cost between the 3.2 & 2.0T in Canada over 8 years. Which is $4000 in price alone to start with.

my whole point is that if you need all the extras (powered tailgate, ipod, LED) just go with 3.2 its a better deal.

But just like your thread title says, in Canada only. For the US, a 2.0T premium plus with the optional 19" 5 arms lists at $40,200. The 3.2 is $42,600. The only difference between the two is the s-line exterior package, headlight washers, and the 3.2 vs the $2,400 you keep with the 2.0T. Other factors being the mileage advantage, lower maintenance cost, and I'm not sure about a difference in insurance.

other huge reason for me to choose 3.2 is because the motor oil consumption. I have two close friend who recently broght 2010 A5 and A4, both using 2.0t engine. both need a motor oil refill at 3000km....and the dealer,(same dealer as my Q5) asked them to keep a bottle of motor oil in the trunk.....

It seems to be the luck of the draw with the 2.0T engine. My A4 2.0T is down almost a quart after around the first 2500 miles on it. I wasn't surprised about this having read many reports of this on various audiworld.com forums, but I wish it didn't eat the oil like it does.
