You probably will have to get a 3.5mm extension cable and find a way to route it. Might be cheaper and more functional to invest in an inexpensive iPod.

yea but even if you bought an extension cable and ran it from the glove to the center console for ease of use, it will still be cumbersome to take it out and change songs, volume, folders, etc...
i think the ipod connection is standard for all ipods. if so you can get a cheapy shuffle for ~$50 (2GB) or even a nano for $150 (8 or 16GB). it sucks that you have to spend more money after buying the car but it would seem worth it for MMI functionality and it removes the need of running cords or taking the player out everytime you want to skip a song

I have an iPod and I have the iPod connecting cable. What the iPod won't do is play Pandora - my phone will. But truthfully since the Q has HD radio, between it, the iPod, and Sirius I can probably get by without it.

Bottom line, if you have the MMI 3G or plus, which I am sure most of us new models came with, are NOT designed to work with the Bluetooth box mentioned earlier.
ONLY way out right now is to use the 3.5mm cable and an A2DP transmitter/receiver combo setup.
Personally I've tried everything, from modifying the iPod cable (change resistor to mimic a 3.5mm jack cable), to tapping into the power supply to power the A2DP receiver (which is a failure, not sure how but that's the way it is for now, to calling and filed a complain with Audi, which end up receiving a call from Audi and telling me "there is no plan to add support for that any time soon."
Honestly it's a dumb thing for them to left out the A2DP capacity in such advanced system. What is worse is that they don't even offer after market support.
